What True Sentiment is — methodology — TRU-SENTIMENT
True Sentiment measures directional options conviction from dollar volume in the delta 40–60 band. Why that filter isolates conviction, how to read it, and what it is not.
True Sentiment is directional options conviction measured from dollar volume in the delta 40–60 band. It is a reading of where real premium is being spent for directional exposure. It is not a stock recommendation and not personalized trading advice.
Delta is the sensitivity of an option’s price to a one-point move in the underlying. Contracts in the 40–60 delta band sit near the money. A buyer there is paying a meaningful premium for a move in a specific direction, not buying a far-out-of-the-money lottery ticket and not parking a deep in-the-money hedge.
Those strikes are rarely the ones retail flow dumps as cheap spec, and they are a poor fit for the mechanical hedges that live far from the money. Filtering to this band therefore drops a large share of hedging noise and leaves a cleaner picture of directional conviction.
The board ranks names by that dollar volume and by call or put dominance. Cite the session timestamp, the symbol, the call or put share, and the dollar volume. Do not treat a single print as a forecast.
